Moving Frontiers

An exhibition at The Floating Gallery Poikki, in Poikkijärvi, 200km north of the arctic circle.

The exhibition Moving Frontiers is about exploring the border between the physical and the digital. Moving beyond what we know to be real, or think we know. The installation consists of two parts. The physical work Magma - a magnetite egg that cracks open to reveal a warm interior. A reflection of this egg can be experienced in the digital piece Magna, a floating virtual spirit.

Kokokaka's Creative Director Jimmy Herdberg and Project Manager Anna Lebar Sanders went to Poikkijärvi to make this project come to life. The digital artwork Magna is displayed through Augmented Reality. Visitors scan the QR code placed on the ice and view the artwork on their mobile phones.

The project was a collaboration with the founders of POIKKI Art & Design Camp Jens Thoms Ivarsson and Arne Bergh.

The exhibition opened on November 23rd, 2024 and runs until the ice of Torneälven melts during late spring 2025.
